The artist announced on Instagram today that she’ll be releasing Rihanna, a book containing over 1,000 images charting her life from her early childhood in Barbados right through to her current status as an international popstar and global fashion icon. Rihanna posted a video to her Instagram giving a preview of the book’s contents with the caption: “Happy to finally share this collection of incredible memories... thank you to all of the photographers and artists that contributed and to @phaidonsnaps for working with me to publish my first piece of art in a new industry.” If the idea of shoving Rihanna on your dusty bookshelf fills you with horror, don’t worry, the Fenty founder has collaborated with the Haas Brothers – American sculptors who count Louis Vuitton among their clients – to create three custom stands for the book. There’s an Ultra Luxury Supreme edition called Stoner, complete with a marble pedestal (which Cardi B has already bought for $110,000, sorry), a steel structure designed with Rihanna’s tattooed hands in mind, and an 18-karat gold-plated affair. Fans awaiting new Rihanna music may only have to wait until the end of 2019, according to multiple French journalists reporting from Universal Music France’s Open Session in early September. One reporter, from French radio station RTL, tweeted on September 6: “The new album of @Rihanna will be released in December!” Rihanna is available for pre-order at therihannabook.com and will ship on October 10.
