Now, news has emerged that she has recorded another song for another film – “The Big Unknown” will feature in 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen’s upcoming Widows. According to the Los Angeles Times, “The Big Unknown” will play out in the end credits of Widows, which is adapted from UK television drama that aired during the 1980s. The film stars Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Daniel Kaluuya, Robert Duvall, and Colin Farrell. “It was an honour to work with such a legend,” McQueen said. “Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material, but luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her.” In July, Sade saxophonist/guitarist Stuart Matthewman revealed that the band had written a “bunch of songs” together, so clearly there’s a lot happening in their world right now. Sade’s last album was Soldier of Love in 2010. Watch a trailer for Widows, which is out November 16 in the US, below.
