Like lead single “Perfect Illusion”, “A-YO” was co-produced with Mark Ronson and BloodPop, though here she gains another co-writer in Hillary Lindsey. Lindsey is an established country music songwriter, which should give you an indication of “A-YO”s sound – a bouncy pop song with a country twang. The song was first debuted live at her ‘dive bar’ tour in Nashville earlier this month, with its studio version given its official premiere on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show last night (October 18). Lowe will be an interview with Gaga tomorrow, where they’ll apparently discuss how Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, and Elton John all convinced her to stop smoking, how social media creates a ‘perfect illusion’ for people, and her life before fame. Additionally, producer Mark Ronson has offered an insight into some of the other collaborators on Joanne in an interview with Rolling Stone, explaining that Father John Misty, Josh Homme, and Beck would all be making appearances.
