The lawsuit accused Dr. Luke of rape and sexual abuse, and had been on hold since last June pending the outcome of his own New York lawsuit against Kesha, which accused her of defamation. “Kesha has dismissed her California action without prejudice while she pursues her appeal and other legal claims in the New York courts,” Kesha’s legal counsel Daniel Petrocelli said in a statement. My fight continues. I need to get my music out. I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York. Thank you for all your support.— kesha (@KeshaRose) August 2, 2016 In response, Christine Lepera, an attorney for Dr. Luke, said: “If Kesha is voluntarily dismissing her claims in the California case, it is because she has no chance of winning them... Kesha never should have brought her false and meritless claims against Dr. Luke in any court.” Kesha’s legal counsel also confirmed that Kesha was working on new music, and has delivered 28 new songs to Kemosabe, the label run by Dr. Luke (under Sony Music) that Kesha is still contracted to. “We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible,” said Petrocelli. Earlier this year, the singer lost a court case in New York that aimed to release her from her contract with Sony, a ruling that Kesha appealed. In the meantime, she is planning a small tour of the US under the name Kesha & the Creepies to perform new music. Escape the algorithm!
