Music / NewsSia talks alcoholism and drug addiction on Carpool KaraokeThe elusive singer got candid while blasting out her biggest hitsShareLink copied ✔️February 18, 2016MusicNewsTextDominique Sisley After already playing host to the likes of Adele, Justin Bieber and A$AP Rocky, James Corden has now (somehow) managed to secure Sia for his ongoing Carpool Karaoke series. The eleven-minute clip, which was aired on The Late Late Show on Tuesday night, saw the elusive singer sit shotgun with the presenter to belt out her biggest hits: including “Chandelier”, “Elastic Heart”, “Alive,” and “Titanium”. In between all the singing, Sia also opened up about substance abuse in her early career. Swamped in her trademark black and white wig, the singer (somehow) sat next to Corden and admitted how severe her past experiences had been, and how her growing fame had nearly “destabilised” her. “I was a singer for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success, and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict,” she explains in the clip, matter-of-factly. “I sobered up and decided I didn't want to be an artist anymore because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilizing in some way. So I thought, 'What doesn't exist in pop music at the moment?' And it was mystery. There's pictures on Instagram of everyone at the dentist.” The singer also goes on to discuss her singing style, as well as her belief in extra-terrestrials (“the American government are working with five different alien races”).
