MusicFirst LookRaider Klan – Tales from the UndergroundExclusive: The syrup-drenched, menacing new album from SpaceGhostPurrp's raw crewShareLink copied ✔️October 31, 2013MusicFirst LookTextOwen Myers Miami rapper SpaceGhostPurrp may have hit the big league with his 4AD release Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp (2012), but here the 22-year-old reunites with his Raider Klan crew for a new album. The totemic horrorcore aesthetic of their visuals (their logo is an Oakland Raiders shield with Egyptian flair) plays out over the heavily leanin', hallucinogenic record, which features Klan members Amber London, Yung Simmie, Ethelwulf, Denzel Curry, Key Nyata, Jay Green and Chris Travis, as well as SpaceGhostPurrp himself. "No Mussel" teems with Dough 2x's venemous rhymes, "We Dangerous" melts into gothic organ menace – but some of the highlights come from the Klan's sole female member Amber London, who rides the cavernous "Fuck What They Say" with the line "I'm jumping in, like fuck it I'm going swimming". Take the plunge, but watch out for the sharks. Stream the album below, and revisit our 2012 feature on SpaceGhostPurrp here.
