Music / First LookMetabeats ft Vanity Jay – PassportFunk jams and the 80s-tastic new video from the hip hop producer and sultry singerShareLink copied ✔️February 21, 2013MusicFirst LookTextDazed Digital Bringing his unabashed funk jams to the Associated Minds hip hop label, Metabeats' knack for combining infectious melodies and stylistic beats makes him an impressive producer to watch. Having already worked with the likes of Elucid (on 'Take Charge') and Action Bronson on 'Hookers', he has now recruited the sultry vocals of Vanity Jay on his latest track 'Passport' in a 80s throwback video premiered here: "We all met through mutual friends Didz and the organ grinder, they're both good friends of ours. And when the fellas (Didz t.o.g) sent me a track they had recorded with Vanity. I was hooked on how good she was and knowing she writes too was the icing in the cake. She's a real diamond in the rough. The video was mostly inspired by the funk/r&b legends before us such as Cameo, Earth, Wind & Fire. We wanted the video to be a laugh and basically a meeting to have a jam. We're now gearing up for the release of the full length Metabeats album 'Caviar Crackle' it features the likes of Action bronson, Oddisee, Tanya Morgan's Von Pea, Vanity Jay plus a few more great people. It's an exciting time for us all over here at Associated Minds."Metabeats' Top 3 Funk Jams of all Time:Funk/r&b is my dept.
