The Ninja Tune signings and Rinse.fm reps are set to play the next installation of the club series at South London's Hidden

This Friday 8th June, forward-thinking club series FOUND will be joining Red Bull Music Academy to throw a bit of a Ninja Tune and Rinse.FM special, bringing together some of the best talents in progressive electronic music with L.A. star Daedelus headlining. Joining him will be RBMA graduates, Dorian Concept and Braiden from Rinse FM, alongside the radio show's resident Alexander Nut.

I think we’re all musicians that have the capability to improvise. I guess it’s not one of those things that you can be better or worse at, as there’s no way to do it right or wrong really.

Here we speak to the Austrian producer Dorian Concept known for his experimentations between digital and analogue sounds, and improvisation influenced by his background in jazz, where he talks Justin Timberlake circa 2,000 and pork sandwiches.

Dazed Digital: A lot of your work seems to be shaped by improv, do you think the ability to improvise musically is a natural gift or something that can be learnt & studied?
Dorian Concept:
I think we’re all musicians that have the capability to improvise. I guess it’s not one of those things that you can be better or worse at, as there’s no way to do it right or wrong really. Depending on the culture it can be more or less original or innovative I suppose, but the way I see it there’s no way someone can’t improvise. For me it’s always been about the instinct of play rather than learning how to do it. So in that sense I feel like everyone can already improvise anyways.

DD: What are you listening to in your own time at the moment?
Dorian Concept:
As I’m in the studio a lot at the moment I mostly listen to a loop of mine for about 5 hours until it drives me mad and I delete it. Otherwise I’ve really enjoyed the new Dimlite record “Grimm Reality”. I first thought it was called “Grimm Realty” but that wouldn’t really make as much sense. Otherwise I’ve done a fair bit of Youtube skipping, done some soundcloud research listening just to stay in the loop and been going mad for Gene Harris keyboard solos.

DD: You've worked on a few collaborations, is this something that interests you much and are there any dream collaborators of yours, alive or dead?
Dorian Concept:
I’m not the easiest person to collaborate with I believe. So in most cases when I worked with people I just ended up playing keys. Doing harmony or melody based stuff. I like seeing myself as a keyboarder more than a producer when working with people. I did a fair share of playing for a bunch of people at the last Red Bull Music Academy which was good fun. Dream collaborations? Probably Justin Timberlake in the early 2000s. That be good.

DD: What are you most excited about next?
Dorian Concept:
Finishing a lot of new music and sharing some of it with people again. Pork sandwiches. Being in Estonia. Having a decent holiday. Seeing how I continue to age. More food. Plastic watches in neon colours. All that and more.
