On Monday 29th August, Diplo and Switch plus their Major Lazer Soundsystem will be bringing a roster of new guests in tow to the all-day shindig. With surprise appearances from MIA and Santigold in previous years, expect more secret guests this year from RBMA, alongside art showcases by Mutoid Waste Company and art director Ferry Gouw as well as live t-shirt printing by Hit and Run. Dazed Digital: What are you working on at the moment? Has 2011 been a productive time for you so far?Lunice: I spent a week in Germany working on this really cool IMAX project in which I had to produce this 9-minute soundtrack. It was my first time really sitting in and doing a project of this size but it was very well worth the experience! It's going to be something the Bboys and Bgirls around the world will like! Other than that, I've been working on getting my stuff around to vocalists and such. Just mainly experimenting with different sounds and rhythms, like the usual. So 2011 has definitely been a very productive year so far. I've still got a lot more projects I'd like to mention but can't right now.DD: Have you played Carnival before? What can people expect from your set?Lunice: I never did play the Carnival before... Although I've been following it over the internet for the past 2-3 years already and it's unreal that I'm literally going to be there and not just only be there but also play! Man it's going to be a very positive set [laughs].DD: Do you feel it is still significant as a music event in London?Lunice: Completely! It's definitely an event that's been pushing its sound in different directions every year and it's great!DD: Who are you listening to as of late?Lunice: I've been listening to rappers from Maybach Music Group like, Meek Mill, Pill and of course Rick Ross. Been onto ASAP Rocky and SpaceGhostPurrp for a minute too, just love everything they do. But yeah, I've been intrigue by the "Blockbuster" entertainment side of this Rap game. I say this because I used to be a dude who was all about underground Rap music and stuff with meaning but in the end I realize that some commercial music is just as relevant but on an entertainment/blockbuster level where it's there to entertain you more than send you a political message. So my record "One Hunned" (out now) is basically my take on the whole Trap and larger than life Rap look.DD: What are you most excited about next?Lunice: What new kind of sound/rhythm I will be working on next is always something I'm excited about!Lunice plays Red Bull Music Academy’s Carnival Party on Monday 29th August - check the site to keep updated.
