The fans were out in full force in all the regalia: fitted caps, oversized jerseys, short skirts or shorts, jumbo-sized NFL necklaces fit for the likes of Flava Flav, and jumbo-sized flags. More importantly (depending on who you ask), Usher took to the stage for this year’s half-time show – 30 years in the making, as he rightfully reminded us. From a sea of parties, celebrity sightings, and roller skating antics from none other than Flippers Roller Boogie Palace, here’s what went down in Vegas over the weekend. THE CELEBRITIES WERE OUT ALL WEEKEND IN FULL FORCE Taylor Swift might as well have been an honorary player due to the amount of attention she seemed to garner all weekend. We all know by now that she’s dating Travis Kelce, considered one of the greatest tight ends of all time, who earned his second straight Super Bowl win and celebrated it with an on-field kiss. Swift was accompanied by Blake Lively and none other than our former cover star, Ice Spice. Also spotted in the stadium were Jay-Z, Blue Ivy and Beyoncé, who surprised us all and announced two new songs and a new album during a Verizon ad. Lady Gaga appeared in rhinestone eye make-up reminiscent of her own Super Bowl halftime show look, while Kim Kardashian, Gwen Stefani, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Lana Del Rey, and Ariana Grande all made cameos too. WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS? WELL, A LOT Across the Super Bowl weekend, the events are non-stop. Upon arrival, there was a live performance from David Guetta and Future at the h.wood Homecoming venue just across the road from the Wynn. The day after, Jack Harlow took to the stage with an array of hits and a shoulder-jigging set from Kaytranada soon followed by special guest Zack Bia. THE HALF-TIME SHOW WAS A HIT It’s been 30 years since Usher was first introduced to us, and at his Super Bowl half-time show he showed no signs of slowing or stopping anytime soon. Performing a medley of hits from OMG to Yeah and a nostalgia-inducing duet with surprise guest – Alicia Keys for ‘My Boo’ – Usher set the stage alight in a custom all-white Dolce & Gabbana for his opening look followed up by a custom Off-White look by our Editor-in-Chief, Ib Kamara. Towards the end of the show, he roller-skated out with a band of dancers in a pair of custom-designed roller skates created by himself alongside Flippers co-founder, Liberty Ross. FLIPPERS BROUGHT THEIR ROLLER BOOGIE PALACE TO TOWN Flippers Roller Boogie Palace came down to Vegas to stage the official after-party hosted by Usher, Liberty Ross, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and Diplo at the Encore Beach Club. We watched the crowds get their selfie video in a lowrider photo booth with working hydraulics, or let the 360 camera whirl around you for a real red carpet experience. Fresh from his halftime show, Usher put his skates on and circled the roller rink, Ludacris could be spotted in the distance and Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre performed a medley of hits. It was the perfect roundoff to the Super Bowl weekend. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday. Privacy policy Thank you.
