The best memes about IKEA’s terrifying Pride sofas

The Swedish furniture company has solved homophobia!

It’s Pride month, which means every company in the world is showing its support for the LGBTQ+ community by… releasing rainbow coloured merch. On today’s episode of capitalism solves homophobia, IKEA has dropped its new range of loveseats, inspired by the Pride flags of different LGBTQ+ identities.

In fairness to IKEA, the sofas have been created by LGBTQ+ designers and artists, and are inspired by real queer people’s stories. The problem is that most of the couches are truly terrifying – in particular the bisexual flag sofa, every inch of which is covered with menacing hands, as well as literal arm rests (you’ll see).

The collection comprises ten loveseats, representing the flags of the following identities: pansexual, transgender, bisexual, asexual, lesbian, non-binary, and genderfluid, as well as a sofa inspired by the progress flag, which includes black and brown stripes to represent marginalised LGBTQ+ communities.

Needless to say, the loveseats have been widely mocked online. Below, Dazed rounds up some of the best memes about them.
