Dazed Academy is putting on a monthly series of free events to help you into jobs within the creative sector, hosted by our very own Dazed editors and talent. The Making It Up As We Go Along programme will feature 45 minute digital workshops, talks, mentoring and community building, with the goal of empowering and educating those hoping to break into fashion, art, photography, film, dance, music, publishing, digital media, video, and much more. First up is How To Get Your Foot In The Door with Dazed’s executive editorial director Lynette Nylander, interviewed by Ted Stansfield, AnOther’s deputy editor. Taking place on March 25, Nylander will share how she broke into the fashion and journalism industry, from building her CV and portfolio to being a Forbes 30 under 30 and working at Teen Vogue and CR Fashion Book. You can sign up here. Other events include a Styling Workshop 101 with Dazed’s editor-in-chief Ib Kamara; How To Use Your Writing To Make A Positive Social Change with Dazed Digital editor Anna Cafolla; and How To Have An Engaging Social Media Presence with senior Instagram editor Vanessa Hsieh and social media editor Marios Mystidis. “At a time where people have been stuck at home, schools closed and education put on hold, Making It Up As We Go Along aims to empower the future of young people from all over the world and give them the tools and the confidence to carve out their own path into the creative industries,” said Nylander. ”We want this event series to be a place for equal opportunity and exchange and break down the barriers between our audience and the magazine passing on Dazed’s 30 years of knowledge and expertise.” Previously, Dazed Academy held some special Zoom sessions with last year’s Dazed 100 – Joy Crookes, Beabadoobee, Danika Magdelena, and Deba – which comprised of four days of workshops, panel discussions, and even a dance class.
