Dazed editor Claire Marie Healy steps down

Healy has been on the print magazine since 2015, profiling notable figures from Chloë Sevigny to Sofia Coppola, and rising to editor from 2019 to 2021

Dazed Media today (January 28) announces that Claire Marie Healy is stepping down from her position as editor of Dazed magazine.

Healy joined Dazed in 2015 as print features editor, stepping up to become editor from 2019 to 2021. In her time on the magazine, she has profiled figures across culture, including Chloë Sevigny, Isabelle Huppert, Sofia Coppola, Tavi Gevinson, and Gregg Araki

As Dazed editor, Healy oversaw an editorial direction that championed youth movements and formidable cultural figures, with cover moments including Chelsea Manning, Rihanna, Noname, Billie Eilish, the ‘Youth is Revolting’ issue, the Stranger Things special, and the Dazed 25th anniversary editions. She will continue in her position as contributing editor for AnOther, where she writes her column Girlhood Studies, which focuses on overlooked coming-of-age moments on screen.

Elsewhere, her journalism can be found in Port, SSENSE, Elephant, Buffalo Zine, Little White Lies, and more, and she holds the position of deputy editor of the forthcoming Rizzoli book to celebrate Dazed’s 30th Anniversary, which will be published in September 2021. 2021 also sees Healy continue working on her first book, exploring girlhood on film and in wider visual culture.

Claire Marie Healy said: “I have had an incredible journey at Dazed, from when I contributed my very first print feature all the way to being Editor of the most agenda-setting magazine out there. Looking back on my five years making magazines as part of an incredible team, I feel an immense sense of pride. It’s been an honour to work with such visionary editors and contributors, the work of all of whom are so important in making Dazed what it is.

“As the reins are handed over for a new era on our 30th anniversary, I am excited for what's to come as I step down. Mainly, I am just so thrilled to have had the opportunity to shape the editorial vision of Dazed, and to have played a part in this segment of its history.”

Jefferson Hack, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Dazed Media said: “I’d like to thank Claire for her storied contribution to Dazed over the past five years. She’s an incredibly gifted writer, journalist and one of the finest editors I've had the pleasure to work with. I wish her all the best with her forthcoming book and look forward to working with her as a contributor to Dazed and AnOther in the future.”

Claire Marie Healy’s final issue of Dazed will be published in February 2021.
