The new film, however — simply titled X — trades your traditional haunted houses and cultish landscapes for a low-fi porn set in rural Texas. Starring Dazed 100 alum Mia Goth and Scott Mescudi (AKA Kid Cudi), the newly-unveiled trailer for X follows a small film crew as they arrive at a remote Texas farmhouse in 1979, intending to secretly shoot an adult film. However, the incredible creepy inhabitants aren’t so welcoming. “Their hosts, a reclusive elderly couple, take a special interest in their young guests,” reads an official synopsis (via Variety). “As night falls, the couple’s leering interest turns violent.” Mia Goth Alongside Mia Goth (who you might recognise from Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria, or Claire Denis’ High Life), the X cast includes Brittany Snow, Scream’s Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Owen Campbell, and Stephen Ure. The R-rated film is written and directed by Ti West (whose previous cult horrors include The Sacrament, The House of the Devil, and a segment of the anthology horror film V/H/S). A24 produces alongside Euphoria creator Sam Levinson’s company Little Lamb Productions, while Mescudi is on board as an executive producer. Watch the chilling trailer for X below.
