Watch the creepy teaser for season three of Netflix’s You

Penn Badgley is back as murdering sociopath Joe Goldberg, and now he’s got a baby to contend with

This article contains spoilers for the previous seasons of You

It’s been almost two years since the shock ending of You season two, and now the Netflix series is finally ready to return, with a premiere date of October 15.

Penn Badgley will reprise his role as sociopath Joe Goldberg, as will Victoria Pedretti, who plays his girlfriend Love Quinn. In the new season, the murderous couple are now married with a baby.

In a teaser video shared yesterday (August 31), soon-to-be dad Joe directly addresses his baby and reveals his name: Henry. “People these days will name their kids anything to get attention,” he narrates over an ominous video of a cake being made. “Despite your mother’s background and your Glamma’s determination to refer to you as Forty reincarnated, I know better.” Forty is Love’s brother, who was killed by a police officer and framed for murders committed by Joe and Love.

“A boy is not what we expected,” continues Joe, “and I would be lying if I said the thought of a mini-me was purely exciting and not without challenges. Let’s just say I’m hoping you’ll do as I say, not as I do. But for you, I can change. I’ll be a man you look up to. A man you will be proud to call dad.”

“Choosing your name is the first of a lifetime of decisions I’ll make to give you the best life possible, to protect you, to shape who you will become. Who are you going to be, Henry?”

It all sounds very joyous right now (minus, you know, the previous killings), but the end of season two revealed a new obsession for Joe – his neighbour. “Joe is committed to his new role as a husband and dad, but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness,” reads an official synopsis. “And then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door?”

“Breaking out of a cage in a basement is one thing,” it continues. “But the prison of a picture-perfect marriage to a woman who’s wise to your tricks? Well, that’ll prove a much more complicated escape.”

While you wait to find out what might happen in Joe’s new doomed relationship, look back at Dazed’s deep dive into why You is so bingeable here.

You will premiere on Netflix on October 15
