Rue from Euphoria’s hoodie has been auctioned to benefit healthcare workers

The hoodie received the top bid in a sale of props from Hereditary, Mid90s, Euphoria, and Eighth Grade

In a series of online auctions, the arthouse film company A24 is selling props from some of its most acclaimed films, to raise money for healthcare workers in NYC amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The first of these auctions closed on Friday (May 8), and altogether it raised $35,275 for NYC Health + Hospitals, which will go towards supporting doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers with costs such as meals, groceries, hotels, laundry services, and taxi rides.

The top bid from the auction came through for the now-iconic hoodie worn by Zendaya in Euphoria – including hidden armpit holes for a safety harness – at $8000, a price matched by a hand-stitched doormat belonging to Toni Collette’s Annie Graham in Hereditary.

Another doormat went for $6,500, while a skateboard belonging to Stevie (Sunny Suljic) in Jonah Hill’s directorial debut, Mid90s, fetched $7,500. The handmade time-capsule from Bo Burnhams’s Eighth Grade came in at $3,275.

Still to be sold off in A24’s auction series – aptly named A24 Auctions – is the May Queen flower dress worn by Florence Pugh in Ari Aster’s Midsommar (current bids are up to $30,000, and end May 13), alongside the grisly, difficult-to-forget “finishing mallet” that appears in the film.

Props from the Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe-starring film The Lighthouse, plus Uncut Gems, are also still up for grabs, benefitting various charities including the FDNY Foundation, Food Bank For NYC, and Queens Community House.
