Announced yesterday (October 22), RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race will launch in 2020, and will feature 12 celebrities competing for the title of America’s Next Celebrity Drag Superstar, and a cash prize that will be donated to a charity of their choice. Each of the season’s four episodes will focus on three guest celebrities who will undergo a drag transformation with the help of previous Drag Race alumni, such as Alyssa Edwards, Asia O’Hara, Kim Chi, Bob the Drag Queen, Monique Heart, Monét X Change, Nina West, Trixie Mattel, and Vanjie (Vaanjie, Vaaanjie). “Doing drag does not change who you are, it reveals who you are,” said RuPaul in a press release. “I can’t wait for the world to see what happens when our celebrity contestants get all up in drags!” While the celebrity competitors have yet to be announced, past celebrity judges include the likes of Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and Maisie Williams, so start your engines, ladies.
