The channel, which became popular for its E! True Hollywood Story series, has billed the show as a true story that “is bigger than Hollywood”. As one of the most vocal advocates challenging the industry’s hidden sexual abuse, the show appears to shed light on the actress’ activism in the lead up to her new book Brave. “I wish I had more middle fingers,” McGowan says in the promotional video. At another point, she can be heard detailing her own experiences. “I was in the middle of my second movie for his company and I get assaulted,” she says in reference to the now disgraced Harvey Weinstein who she has repeatedly accused of rape. “I knew others were out there and I knew it was a lot of us,” McGowan continues. “Being brave doesn't mean your ankles don't shake and that you're not scared. I wish I had more middle fingers.” Citizen Rose premieres January 30 on E!
