Film & TVNewsWatch a sneak peek of the Sense8 finaleIt's finally hereShareLink copied ✔️December 10, 2017Film & TVNewsTextCharlie Brinkhurst-Cuff Sense8, the cult, sci-fi show which tracks the lives of eight ‘sensates’ living all over the world and connected through their minds, is back! It was originally cancelled earlier this year, with Netflix citing cost of production. “The audience was very passionate, but not large enough to support the economics of something that big, even on our platform,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. However, in late June it was announced that they would be given a two-hour special to round it up in 2018. “Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life,” co-creator Lana Wachowski wrote in an open letter. “I could kiss every single one of you!” As shown in the sneak peek, Sense8 fans are notoriously passionate: they have been following the progress of the finale episode by visiting set locations and vigorously campaigning for a third season. “Our show builds bridges and empowers people,” says Max Riemelt in the video, the actor who plays Wolfgang Bogdanow. “We all bleed when we're cut,” added Tuppence Middleton, who plays Riley Blue. “We all feel grief and love. It's always been about that common humanity. It's a show that's for everyone.” Lana Wachowski revealed in August that despite the cancellation she had already written a third season of the show. Speaking in the third person, Wachowski said: “She’s writing… because she believes so much in the fans – that they’re going to go out and actually create so many more fans – Lana’s actually going ahead and writing the entire Season 3.” Many fans have also been writing their own Sense8 fanfiction to help round up the series. “I mean, nothing will replace an actual Season 3, but fanfiction, especially with how much fans LOVE Sense8, may be the only way we get real, full, tried and true closure to Sense8,” one fan told Dazed.
