How else to get a fashion crowd wildly enthusiastic about down jackets? For Giambattista Valli’s Gamme Rouge collection, they set out to show how the new collection could deal with the elements by literally sending in rain, snow and wind into the show venue and having the models play up to the elements. Less decorative than Valli’s past pieces for Moncler, he focused on protective and sturdy outerwear that stood out by being done up in neon furs, adorned with black rectangular plastic pailettes and leopard print. The models were having a whale of a time running through the staged weather or walking gaily through the snow and sometimes hand in hand in a couple. Yes, it was a little unintentionally funny at times but it sure did perk up the crowd at the end of a weary fashion month.
