As temperatures rise across the city and the fashion crowds descend for menswear and couture week, the search for air conditioning becomes its own kind of survival instinct. But away from the sweltering commotion of outdoor runway shows, EZR’s SS27 showroom found arguably one of the best solutions: a cool space where guests could actually spend time with the collection, get close to the garments, and experience the details that designers have taken the time to bring to life. Founded by designer Eli Azran, EZR blends a more relaxed West Coast aesthetic with classic elements of Italian tailored craftsmanship. For SS27, the brand continues to explore the relationship between clothing and feeling, creating pieces that act as a form of armour while balancing its message of honouring vulnerability and protection. FELT BEFORE IT’S SEEN Courtesy of EZR Inside the showroom, the phrase “felt before it’s seen” was plastered on a poster in the middle of the space. Inspired by Braille and the idea that touch can communicate beyond what is visible, EZR builds its identity around texture, hidden symbols, and tactile details that reveal themselves over time. The concept appeared throughout the showroom and the collection, including a T-shirt reading “the language of the unseen”. THE TEXTURES PLAYED WITH PERCEPTION Courtesy of EZR EZR's way of using materials was one of the strongest elements throughout SS27, with the collection built around surfaces that reveal more the closer you look. Washed finishes, tactile textures, handcrafted treatments, and trompe l’oeil techniques create moments where the eye is challenged by what it thinks it sees. A standout example was the leather ribbed tank top, which appears at first glance to be a classic cotton essential but is actually crafted from ultra-soft, flexible white leather. Elsewhere, distressed jerseys, reconstructed denim, treated leathers, and military-inspired silhouettes also added different touches that you could not help but want to pick up and feel. POPS OF COLOUR IN STANDOUT PIECES Courtesy of EZR Among the key looks, the reconstructed denim and leather trousers captured the collection’s approach to combining contrasts, fusing washed light-blue denim with leather panelling from the mid-thigh down. A cropped leather military jacket introduced a sharper side of EZR, featuring military-inspired cording, silver hardware, and a softened silhouette that kept the structure from feeling rigid. There were also louder moments, including a hot pink moto jacket in vibrant leather with oversized utility straps, asymmetric zippers, and heavy silver hardware. Paired with pieces like the distressed plaid shirt, finished with raw edges and shredded detailing, the collection mixed statement pieces with more subtle looks.
