Last week, as more than 20,000 runners descended upon the city for the LA Marathon, sportswear brand adidas took the opportunity to unveil its latest release, the Hyperboost Edge. To celebrate the launch of its new running shoe, the brand kept marathon weekend booked and busy, hosting a series of events and activations that brought together talent across both running and fashion.

Though adidas is no stranger to footwear, the new kicks introduce some firsts for the brand. The Hyperboost Edge is the first non-plated adidas super-trainer, designed with a new foam technology as opposed to plates or stiffening elements. The Hyperboost Pro foam itself finds its roots at the University of Cologne, where the German brand undertook laboratory testing to get the design just right. The Hyperboost Edge also marks the first time an adidas running shoe features the brand’s iconic three stripes on the stacked insole.

“We wanted to bring something truly transformative to runners,” Patrick Nava, GM of adidas Running, said in a statement from the brand. “Hyperboost Edge is where the ‘Power of Three’ comes to life – cushioning, energy, and lightness combined seamlessly in one shoe.”

To try out the new style for yourself, mark your calendar for March 17, when the Hyperboost Edge will be available in adidas stores and on adidas.com, and for May 1, when new colourways of the kicks will drop.
