It has thus far been a season of reassessment and revaluation of the core of fashion and a stripping back unnecessary frills. For Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who more often than not express their passion for the grand gesture in fashion, restraint may have been an unexpected tactic but that's exactly what they delivered in their A/W 10-11. Overall, the point was to showcase their skills as immaculate pattern cutters and this was reflected in the numerous black jackets. The lingerie strand of their design DNA came shining through with polish be it in the corsets under suiting or the lace edges. Familiar elements such as polka dots, leopard prints, plenty of black lace and giant floral motifs were also revisited in this collection that was an updated retrospective of Dolce & Gabbana's 20 years of work.
