Emerging from a giant bomb-proof tank to her own song “NISSAN ALTIMA”, Doechii stormed the runway at Dsquared2’s 30th anniversary collection, much to the delight of the onlooking crowd, who all whipped out their iPhones to immortalise the image. Staged outside the front of a fictional factory called ‘Dsquared2 Bros Co’, the rapper was dressed in one of the brand’s signature Canadian-style get ups, complete with belted corset, fur-trimmed bomber and cigarette holster. Before the show, designers Dan and Dean Caten teased the big anniversary on Instagram by looking back at all the iconic female musicians they’d worked with (Madonna, Beyoncé, Britney, Rihanna) and now, with this co-sign, Doechii has unequivocally been added to that list. This catwalk appearance at the label’s AW25 collection is yet more evidence of the rapper’s ongoing acceptance into fashion’s fold. 2024 saw Doechii and stylist Sam Woolf begin to experiment with her style, opting for a more preppy aesthetic – think oddball Thom Browne suits and 70s-inspired Wales Bonner casuals. This caught the eye of the Thom Browne team, who now have a close working relationship with Doechii and Woolf, kitting the musician out in four (yes, four) custom looks for the 2025 Grammys. As well as that, Doechii made several front row appearances at the New York shows last season – most memorably in soiled underwear at Willy Chavarria – so it’s clear that the fashion industry is well and truly taking notice. Back in Milan though, Doechii wasn’t the only recognisable face on the runway tonight. After skipping her regular Conner Ives appearance at London Fashion Week, Model of The Year Alex Consani was back in a dramatic, ab-bearing faux fur stole, as was Amelia Gray Hamlin, doing her best Cher in a 70s, feathered catsuit. Dsquared2 hunk-in-residence Kit Butler also graced us with his presence in Milan, along with Tyson Beckford, Irina Shayk, Brazilian muse Isabeli Fontana, catwalk closer Naomi Campbell, and US rapper NLE Choppa. Finally, though, like a set of female rap bookends, Doechii’s opening gambit was mirrored by none other than the City Cinderalla JT, who joined Doechii for a fiery closing performance of the “Alter Ego” remix. Dan and Dean promised a sexy, sultry, star-studded 30th anniversary, and the boys certainly didn’t disappoint. Escape the algorithm!
