All up in your grill: Paris street style bared its teeth for SS25

This season tooth caps and grills took over the French capital, proving that fashion is at its best when it comes with a little bite

If you were in the streets of Paris for the SS25 men’s shows last month, you might’ve thought there was some sort of battle about to take place. All over the city, its well-dressed citizens were caught with their lips stretched apart, gnashing their teeth at one another. For the majority of the animal kingdom, a toothy snarl is a sign of oncoming aggression, but for this very peculiar species known as the “fashion person”, it actually means that they just really, really want their photograph taken.

Turns out the reason for the bared teeth was actually the abundance of grills, gems and tooth caps across the city, definitely the most amount we’ve seen at any fashion week so far – something definitely seems to be in the water. From coloured gemstones to glinting diamantés and all-gold crowns, the toothy grins were popping up in every corner of the city, chasing down Yu Fujiwara to capture the grills on film.

But from the neck down, show-goers’ street style came with just as much bite. There was a flamboyant yellow snakeskin suit, a fuzzy green vest that looked like a carpet shag, while one person boldly proclaimed “put me on the guest list” with his slogan tee. Patchwork trucker jackets, crochet vests and fishnet jerseys also popped up on other street style aficionados, while Willy Chavarria and his crew opted for monochromatic ensembles with a touch of flannel check. But whether it was Prada messenger bags, Martine Rose shirts or Chrome Hearts chokers, Paris’s menswear attendees had the sharp style to match those bared teeth of theirs. Scary stuff!
