The proposed John Galliano theme for the 2024 Met Gala might have bitten the dust due to the institution’s fear of backlash, but there was a strong turnout on the green carpet when it came to the designer’s creations.

Looking to Galliano’s seminal Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection were Gala co-chairs Bad Bunny, who turned it out in an all black look complete with showstopping hat, and Gwendoline Christie, who switched out the look she wore in the actual Paris runway show for a black and red chiffon number and huge backcombed up-do.

Rounding off a hat-trick for Galliano was Zendaya, who also stepped into a custom Margiela look. This time, though, the designer looked to his SS99 Dior Haute Couture show for inspiration, decking the Challengers star out in royal blue taffeta and sticking a hummingbird on her shoulder.

A feather headdress came courtesy of Philip Treacy, while make-up was by Margiela maestro Pat McGrath. Meaning if all else fails tonight, and the celebs fail to do anything interesting style-wise – as is par for the course – we’ll always have Zendaya.

Right now, guests including Taylor Russell, Josh O’Connor, J.Lo, and Ayo Dabiri are piling into the mega-exclusive dinner in looks from Loewe, Schiaparelli, and more. Keep your eyes on Dazed for everything you need to see as it happens, and follow @dazedfashion for more.
