Kicking off with Chanel this morning, with Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent menswear coming up later. But first, Miu Miu. The past few seasons have seen Miuccia Prada promote the likes of Troye Sivan, Mia Goth, Zaya Wade, and Emma Corrin to Miu muse status (or is it elite employee?). For AW24, Little Simz and Luther Ford – who also features on the cover of the new spring 2024 issue of Dazed – were chosen, while Ethel Cain returned for a hattrick after previously appearing at the SS23 and AW23 shows. The cast also featured a slew of older faces, including Dr Qin Huilan and actresses Kristin Scott Thomas and Ángela Molina. Held at the Palais d’Iéna, the show’s carpeted set featured screens projecting a short film by artist Cécile B Evans starring French actress and art curator Guslagie Malanda. Far from the super-short micros Miuccia Prada has been parading the past few seasons, the AW24 collection leaned into a more demure ladylike aesthetic, with models wearing pearl necklaces and clutching their handbags at the side. Not totally prim and proper, this slightly undone woman isn’t afraid to get mud on her dress with chic cocktail numbers appearing wrinkled and shirt collars askew. Escape the algorithm!
