It’s trashy! It’s Dean and Dan’s world and we’re just living in it, baby! Fashion’s fave perma-tanned DSquared2 twins closed out the first day of Milan Fashion Week last night with a stellar show walked by oiled-up buff boys and uber-glam girls with gazelle-like legs, plus porn stars, OG supermodel Esther Cañadas, and Julia Fox. To an amped-up soundtrack of Donna Summer’s “Love to Love You Baby” – with extra breathy moans and groans – the Catens channelled old money aesthetics, with WASP-y twinsets, striped rugby tops, and boxy double-breasted suit jackets replete with glinting gold buttons clashed with Cherry Boy baby-tees, logo-emblazoned trucker hats, and slashed and tasseled muscle vests. Fox herself stepped out in a skimpy, angelic lingerie-like white slip, thigh-high stockings, and a heart-shaped bag – a look that could have easily been pulled from a late 90s/early 00s porno, which a backstage mood baord confirmed was the inspiration for the new season. “It's snob meets knob,” the designers chimed backstage. With fashion wunderkind Haley Wollens back to style the sweaty spectacle, the best of the rest included bum-flashing low-rise jeans studded with Swarovski crystals, slinky waterfall-neck dresses, and endless underwear-as-outerwear – or underwear as the only wear in some cases – looks. Best of all, though, were the cheeky pants models including actual porn star Rocco Siffredi flashed on the runway. Unbuttoning the flies of his stonewashed jeans as he made his way past the grinning audience, he finally whipped them down to reveal a bright red pair of undies emblazoned with ‘VIP’. In this instance, it didn’t stand for Very Important Person, but Very Important Penis instead. It was naughty, cheeky, and totally DSquared2, and with exhilarated editors already calling it a moment of the season as they dashed backstage, it’s clear that Dean and Dan are truly on a roll right now.
