Twitter dresses for a funeral, and Balenciaga sets up a gift shop
Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Carla Bruni strut side-by-side: tweed mini skirts hoicked up their thighs, handbags dangling from the crook of their arms, hair blown behind their shoulders. In another image, Evangelista and Christy Turlington are caught mid-pillow fight, feathers whirling around their heads. And then there’s a kohl-rimmed Stella Tennant, septum-pierced in a fuzzy two piece on some residential road in London. Between January 1993 and December 1993, Steven Meisel shot 28 covers for Vogue and over 100 editorials and campaigns; a feverish output that transformed working models into household names and Meisel into an era-defining creative.
A new exhibition in A Coruña – Steven Meisel: 1993 A Year in Photographs – travels back over that most unusual year with a rare curation of fashion imagery and celebrity portraiture. The collection brings together all the supers, alongside Barbara Streisand, Kyle MacLachlan, and Isabella Blow. “It was just good times,” Naomi Campbell said. “We travelled a lot and when we were in the same cities at the same times, we always made a point of being together. Work was work but it didn’t feel like work, it was also fun and we would work all hours of the night to achieve what we wanted to achieve – the goal, the look, the whole vibe of the shoot. It was a special time.”
Sparse, but not without warmth, Meisel’s photography remains in high demand. “I don’t know of anyone who had as much respect for fashion, and as much respect for aesthetics,” Turlington added. “We always worked with mirrors, mirrors behind him shooting so that you could really see yourself, so there was a lot of learning. To have a campaign or a shoot with Steven – a first cover or whatever – that’s the moment that your career has the possibility of transforming into something much much greater.” Steven Meisel: 1993 A Year in Photographs runs from November 19 to May 1 in a custom-built showspace and will be open to the public, free of charge.

On the line-up is a very spenny dog bed and spiked water bowl, candleholders masquerading as fizzy pop cans, logo-emblazoned bedding, and an array of mini Cagole bags and baseball caps designed to be strung on your Christmas tree. TOM FORD IS FILTHY RICH
Everyone’s fave Texan designer landed a massive windfall this week, as Estée Lauder scooped his namesake label up for a measly $2.8 BILLION dollars. Don’t really believe in billionaires and truly eat the rich, but Ford’s really hot so maybe we’ll let him off the hook x

TWITTER USERS ARE DRESSING FOR A FUNERAL
Ever since he took to the helm, Elon Musk has been ringing the death knell for Twitter. Will it actually dissolve? Probably not… but who knows. People are getting very het-up about its alleged demise either way. Some of the website’s more maudlin users are even planning their funeral looks, channelling Megan Markle at the Queen’s big send-off and Ariana Grande at the Teen Choice Awards. I will be wearing Heidi Klum’s worm. Click here to see what High Fashion Twitter thinks of it all.
