While the bad news is that he’ll likely never go back, the good news is that thanks to an upcoming auction – held by French auction house Cornette de Saint Cyr – you’ve got a chance of getting your hands on rare archive pieces. Taking place on June 7, over 500 items are up for grabs – with 300 pieces submitted by a fabulous Russian woman who has been hoarding the designer’s pieces since his AW97 debut at Dior. “The sale is very representative of the evolution of Galliano’s style at the house of Dior,” Hubert Felbacq, director of Cornette de Saint Cyr’s luxury and vintage department, tells WWD. Up for grabs are a wide range of must-have pieces from floral embroidered Bar jackets and saddle bags to the iconic SS06 newsprint pieces. Prices range from €30 for smaller accessories all the way up to €6,000 for a python coat from the AW06 collection. Not to worry if you’ve not got tens of thousands of euros to fork out on fashion. All of the lots from the auction will be on display at Cornette de Saint Cyr’s HQ from June 4 to 6, so you can marvel from a safe distance. View the entire auction collection here.
