Miu Miu explores Shangri-La while Kate Moss keeps it in the family in a new campaign with daughter Lila
This week in fashion land, LFW came to a close following a week of presentations that saw designers find new and innovative ways to present their collections virtually. Matty Bovan offered up a three-part offering via a glitchy, strobe-lit film, while Saul Nash explored themes of honesty, bravery, and acceptance in a video that centred around sportswear and the young men who wear it.
At Fashion East, Maximilian Davis presented a slick line-up that dove into the space-age futurism of the mid-1960s, while Nensi Dojaka further honed the chic, sheer, sexy aesthetic that has become the her trademark.
Elsewhere, Jacquemus’ new photo series had us longing for the loving touch of another human and the end of lockdown, Megan Thee Stallion channelled all your Mean Girls fantasies for Coach, and Sotheby’s announced a massive Martin Margiela auction, while rising star Priya Ahluwalia became the fourth recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design for her work in sustainability and diversity.

KATE AND LILA MOSS TEAM UP
After walking together in last month’s Fendi Couture how, Kate Moss and daughter Lila have teamed up once again, this time to launch a new line of merch released by Kate’s talent agency under the name of KMA Studios.
Following an initial drop back in December, the collection is inspired by Kate’s belief in the butterfly effect – the idea that the smallest of movements can have long-term effects – as well as her love of butterflies. The lo-fi campaign for the collection comprises a series of polaroids starring Kate and Lila modelling the hoodie and t-shirt which feature prints by wildlife photographer Finlay Pitt. A percentage of proceeds from the capsule will benefit Save The Children.
GUCCI JOINS ANIMAL CROSSING
Following in the footsteps of Glossier, MAC, and Givenchy, Gucci Beauty has become the latest brand to join the wholesome, low-stakes world of Animal Crossing. Inspired by elements of Gucci’s Guilty scents and campaigns, the ‘GG island’ boasts a laundromat, supermarket and hair salon – as well as Jared Leto. The long-time collaborator of the house and face of Gucci Guilty greets visitors as they land on the island, where they can then proceed to enjoy mini games, take-away items, and a Paparazzi Zone for photographs.

IRIS LAW FRONTS STELLA MCCARTNEY
Stella McCartney is back with the second iteration of her genderless Shared capsule, a line aimed at a younger, gender-fluid audience. This time around, McCartney teamed up with Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara who brings punk attitude and cheeky rebelliousness to his first-ever fashion collaboration. Iris Law and Jyrrel Roberts star as the faces of the collection in a campaign shot by Luke & Nik that explores shared experiences of identity and freedom.
GCDS GOES DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
GCDS took a trip down the rabbit hole this season to present an edible-inspired collection. From the triple-breasted models of SS19 to the super-sized pupils of the models in SS20, GCDS loves to put on a trippy show and this time was no exception. Heavy on the ASMR and sensory stimulates, the AW21 film opened with Rina Lipa, sister of Dua, who walked in an olive dress with peek-a-boo cut-outs perfect for showing off your jewelled thong. “Right now, every trip counts,” designer Giuliano Calza said. “Every perception, every reaction. Dark times lead to good times, and we must recognize every piece of this forward motion. We must learn from it, and we must allow our new selves to be reborn.”

MIU MIU’S SHANGRI-LA
Miu Miu’s ongoing film series Women’s Tales has been championing female directors over the last decade and has seen collaborations with Agnès Varda, Ava DuVernay, and Crystal Moselle. For its latest film, Miu Miu tapped director Isabel Sandoval for a story of a second-generation Filipino farmhand residing in California during the Great Depression. Through dream-like imagery, Shangri-La explores race, religion, and sensuality. “For some immigrants, America was a promised Shangri-La, whose reality in the 19th and early 20th century, turned out to be a different story,” the brand says.
CARHARTT WIP DROPS KARHARTT
Carhartt WIP has teamed up with car lovers L’Art de l’Automobile for a collaboration that pays homage to the Ferves Ranger – a rare Italian off-road vehicle from the 60s and 70s. Full of utilitarian, mechanic uniform-inspired pieces, the range also draws inspiration from car dealer and L’Art de l’Automobile founder Arthur Kar’s memories of fixing cars with his father as a child as well as Carhartt WIP’s Detroit heritage and the brand’s history of producing cars in 1911. Aptly named Karhartt, the collection also features a functioning mini-wrench keychain. Vroom, vroom.
MOSCHINO OPENING NIGHT
Jeremy Scott hosted a meta theatre of dreams for Moschino’s collection this season. A show within a show within a show, the presentation was staged as a voyage through the day of a lady with outfits for her every need: business, leisure, safari travels, extravagant balls. Titled Jungle Red, the presentation took inspiration from old Hollywood and in particular the 1939 hit The Women starring Joan Crawford. Not a lockdown tracksuit or a WFH hoodie in sight, this was pure fantasy paraded by a slew of it-girls and pin-ups: including Dita Von Teese, Winnie Harlow, Hailey Bieber, Miranda Kerr, Shalom Harlow, and Precious Lee.
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ for DSQUARED2
Following the presentation of its Tonya Harding-esque, skating-inspired AW21 collection earlier this month, Dsquared2 has teamed up with football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović on a capsule line. As part of the brand’s Icon collection, the range will feature quotes from Ibrahimović as well as his “Only God Can Judge Me” tattoo print. The footballer also stars in Dsquared2’s new SS21 campaign which also includes Naomi Campbell. Shot by Giampaolo Sgura, the campaign aims to encourage unity and features a large cast representative of the diversity of society.
