...and all the other fashion news you missed this week, including Louis Vuitton’s collab with Urs Fischer, a Chanel podcast, and Kendrick Lamar’s film series for Calvin Klein
The new year is officially (and finally!) upon us, and so far, it’s been as busy as ever when it comes to breaking fashion news. In case you haven’t been paying attention, London-based designer Simone Rocha is set to join forces with H&M on a new collab coming in March and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are clearing out their archive, selling vintage pieces from Chanel, John Galliano, Pierre Cardin, and more on via their brand, The Row.
This week also saw fashion fans of HBO’s Industry (including Virgil Abloh) taking to social media to urge the TV network to drop the purple Pierpoint & Co. hoodie featured in the series, and, here at Dazed, editor-in-chief Isabella Burley, fashion director Emma Wyman, and art-director Jamie Reid announced they will be stepping down from the team, as Ib Kamara and Lynette Nylander join as editor-in-chief and executive editorial director.

Urs Fischer reinvents the Louis Vuitton monogram
Last week, Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram got a makeover thanks to Swiss artist, Urs Fischer. With a new collab made up of a series of limited edition bags, small leather goods, athleisure, shoes, and accessories, each piece is printed with the reimagined LV logo, which Fischer hand drew from memory to create a sketched look and photographed alongside whimsical animations created by the artist. Jean Paul Gaultier’s show is postponed
The Jean Paul Gaultier fashion house has decided to cancel its upcoming men’s fashion week show in Paris, opting to “celebrate this event during safer and happier times”. The show was set to feature couture by Japanese luxury designer, Chitose Abe, following the retirement of Jean Paul Gaultier. Read more here.

Chanel revealed its Cruise 2022 show date
Following last year’s cancellation, Chanel has officially scheduled its Cruise 2022 show for May 4 at the Carrières de Lumières in Southern France, which previously served as the backdrop to filmmaker Jean Cocteau’s 1960s film Testament of Orpheus. Elsewhere, the label is also launching new podcast series Chanel Connects, which explores the future of culture – with Edward Enninful, Kiera Knightley, Pharrell, Tilda Swinton, Andrew Bolton all set to appear. London Fashion Week is go!
London Fashion Week has received the go-ahead from the British Fashion Council. This year, however, the AW20 shows will take place digitally with no audience – following the UK government’s coronavirus lockdown measures. Designers, however, will be able to photograph, film, and stream their collections. The news follows announcements that Paris Men’s Fashion Week and Haute Couture Week will stream virtually as well. Precious Lee channels Medusa in the new Versace campaign
Rising model Precious Lee features alongside Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber in the new Versace SS21 ad campaign. The campaign follows the model’s historic debut as one of the first curve models to walk at the label’s SS21 Milan show. The ad features the same underwater theme as the show, this time in the images, portraying models as the ‘modern Medusa’ explained Donatella. We love to see it.

Area New York dives into Couture
New York fashion label Area is joining this month’s Paris Fashion Week schedule with the launch of its new couture collection. The announcement came alongside a new RTW campaign which features clips of dancer Leiomy Maldonado – aka ‘The Wonder Woman of Vogue’ – dancing and vogueing in the crystal-covered collection. Area’s RTW is available online here, with its couture debut taking place on Jan 28.

Iman stars in a short film for Ugg
Supermodel Iman is the latest legendary name to slip into a pair of UGG boots for the brand’s latest campaign. Following André Leon Talley’s SS21 photoshoot for the brand, the short film features Iman discussing women’s empowerment and her thoughts on the word ‘iconic’, all while cosied up with her dog in a pair of the UGG’s Classic Mini II. Margiela joins forces with Reebok for a new Tabi trainer
Maison Margiela has teamed up with Reebok to drop another high-fashion shoe for hypebeasts everywhere. Unveiled by none other than Kim Kardashian on her Instagram stories, the Classic Leather Tabi features the brand’s classic Bianchetto technique of painting leather with a white coating, as well as black detailing and the classic split toe. The trainer drops on Jan 30.

Post Malone gifted Crocs to frontline workers
This week, Post Malone joined up with organisation Musicians On Call to thank healthcare workers for their hard work during the pandemic. In true Post Malone style, he did so by donating 10,000 pairs of his Max Clog II collaboration with Crocs to 70 hospitals across America. ICYMI, when he first dropped the shoe, the musician also donated a pair to every student and faculty member in his old high school. We stan.

pgLang created eight short films for Calvin Klein
Last year, Kendrick Lamar announced the launch of his creative agency, pgLang. Now, the agency has launched a series of eight short films in partnership with Calvin Klein. The films – directed by co-founder, Dave Free, who previously worked on Lamar’s music videos and backed by original music from Grammy-nominated producer Jahaan Sweet – each feature a different story, whether it’s models putting their CK jeans in the freezer, rollerblading in the iconic underwear, or tacking a single pair of jeans to a giant white billboard.
