Cropped tops are back for the boys of Celine

Hedi Slimane just sent a model in a Breton striped version down the runway in Paris

As Paris Fashion Week and the AW20 season as a whole race towards their end – with normal life resuming until the menswear shows in June – there are just a few shows left to see. Among them was Hedi Slimane’s latest Celine spectacular, which, as always, took over Friday night’s most coveted spot. Here’s everything you missed.

A DAZED FAVE SAT FRONT ROW

….in the form of Asa Butterfield from Netflix’s Sex Education. Also in attendance alongside the rising actor were two iconic – and slightly more established – faces: Isabelle Huppert and Charlotte Rampling. Trop chic!

THE SHOW WAS AS DRAMATIC AS EVER

The show kicked off as a swishing curtain dropped to the floor, revealing a scaffolded structure at the end of the runway that lit up and formed the shape of the Celine monogram logo. Moments later, the first model arrived on a conveyor belt from the side of the runway.

THE CELINE BOYS AND GIRLS WALKED SIDE BY SIDE

...and, when it came to the collection, it was business as usual, with Hedi offering up the kind of clothes he’s known and loved for. For the boys, this meant bootcut leather trousers, shearling coats, parkas, John Lennon-esque sunglasses and pointy boots, while velvet suits with pussybow blouses and beading, animal print kaftans, tailored capes, and classic trenches were all on the line-up for the women. Think your typical off-duty rockstar and his groupies milling around the VIP at Glastonbury circa 1976 and you’re pretty much there.

CROPPED TOPS ARE BACK FOR THE BOYS NEXT SEASON

With one model taking to the runway in a cut-off Breton stripe sweater, teamed with a simple pair of flares and tux style jacket. Harry Styles: we have our eye on you.
