Day two of Milan Fashion Week and we’re back with Miuccia Prada to see what she’s been working on when it comes to the label’s AW20 womenswear. Invite lost in the post? Here’s everything you need to know.
IT TOOK PLACE AT THE FONDAZIONE PRADA
Just a few weeks after celebrating the ‘everyday hero’ at her AW20 menswear show (and giving off some big horse boy energy in the process), Mrs. P opted to show her womenswear offering in the same space. Once again, guests sat in rows overlooking the big, red, void-like courtyards first seen at the men’s presentation, at the centre of which unique sculptures of Atlas stood.
K-POP ICON LISA SAT FRONT ROW
...with traffic outside the Fondazione jamming to a standstill as fans congregated and screamed her name as she entered. Oh, the drama of it all.
PRADA FAVES OLD AND NEW WALKED
...with the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Dazed cover girl Licett Morillo all on the model line-up at today’s show. Joining the new guard were old (or rather: established) Prada faves Arizona Muse and Freja Beha Erichsen, who both returned to the runway. But then, who could turn Miucci down when she picks up the phone?
THE SOUNDTRACK WAS BANGING
...but then that goes without saying, with Prada’s playlists unfailingly brilliant season on season. This time around, Justice’s “Stress”, “Kaltes Klares Wasser” by Malaria!, and a couple of Donna Summer’s finest disco hits all boomed through the show space.
AND OMFG THE CLOTHES
When it came to Mrs. Prada’s vision for AW20, it was a case of business up front and party at the back. The first models made their way out into the runway in looks heavy on the executive realness vibes, with boxy tailored jackets in grey, navy, and black wool and tweeds, leather pencil skirts with thigh high slashes, and buttoned-up shirts and ties.
Following closely behind were bolder, brighter looks comprising oversized leather jackets which were nipped in at the waist, a-line dresses, and the same chunky rubber boots first seen on AW20’s boys (this time with cosy shearling linings).
Closing the show was a succession of sexy see-through and silk dresses finished with disco-style fringing, swinging beads, and slashes, with many looks finished with classic Prada pop socks and some seriously covetable high-heeled Mary-Janes. What else is there to say? Take my money, Miuccia Prada, take all my money.
