Starting off on the red carpet, the “Sign of the Times” singer looked towards Alessandro Michele’s AW20 menswear offering. Wearing a double breasted blazer paired with flowing trousers and a purple jumper layered over a poplin-collar shirt, the singer also sported a black ribbon in memory of TV presenter Caroline Flack, who sadly and shockingly passed away this weekend. The look was then finished off with a pearl necklace, in Gucci’s typical raided-your-grandma’s-wardrobe style. But it wasn’t just the grandma chic which caught our attention. With most men going for a boot, trainer, or at least a loafer on the red carpet, the singer instead opted for those little t-bar school shoes your mum forced you to wear to school despite you angling for a pair of Kickers. Inside the evening’s venue, however, the kiddie shoes came off with Styles switching up the formal attire for an all white lace look. Again designed by Gucci, the ‘A Clockwork Orange but make it fashion’ number was complete with matching lace gloves and braces. All styled by Harry Lambert, the final look of the night came in the form of a yellow suit by Marc Jacobs, detailed with a pin which read ‘treat people with kindness’ and worn over a purple pussy bow blouse. All in all we can only hope the school shoes will be making an appearance on some more Gucci fanboys this upcoming season – loafers move over.
