ASAI has cancelled his upcoming fashion show due to coronavirus ban

The Shanghai factory where the designer’s AW20 collection is being produced has been shut down amidst the ongoing global health crisis

Former Dazed 100 designer A Sai Ta of ASAI has announced that his upcoming AW20 show, which was set to take place as part of London Fashion Week on February 14, has been cancelled, owing to the ongoing coronavirus crisis China and the world is currently facing.

With the former Fashion East designer’s ready-to-wear collections produced in Shanghai, the facility where manufacturing takes place was shut down by the Chinese government, meaning his AW20 collection is inaccessible.

With parts of China in lockdown in a bid to contain the virus for almost a fortnight now, the factory is not expected to reopen until LFW is actually underway.

Having taken a break from the London schedule for SS20, this marks the second fashion season Ta will be absent from. As one of our fave designers, he’ll be hugely missed this time around – but with confirmation that he’ll be back to show for SS21(!) in September, we’ll be looking forward to seeing him then.
