Parisian fashion boutique colette is the subject of a new documentary

Colette Mon Amour will focus on the final days of the iconic store, with appearances from Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and more

The iconic Parisian boutique colette, which closed its doors after 20 years in 2017, will be the subject of a new film titled Colette Mon Amour. An hour-long documentary, the film will give an insight into the store’s final six months, starting with the announcement of its closure.

Founder Colette Roussaux and her daughter Sarah Andelman – the store’s head buyer and creative director – will feature heavily in the film, directed by fellow Parisian Hugues Lawson-Body.

However, it won’t only be Roussaux and Andelman giving their take on things; there will also be appearances from big fashion/music names including Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams.

Viewers can watch a Virgil Abloh book signing gone wrong, for example, as well as some of colette’s events in the run-up to its closure, including the final guest curation by Saint Laurent.

Other names from across the fashion industry – including show producer Alexandre de Betak, Guillaume Henry, and LVMH prize-winner Masayuki Ino – will also feature.

“The people we interviewed in the documentary are true, honest fans; they were more than willing to be interviewed about colette,” Lawson-Body tells WWD. “They didn’t need any persuading.”

Colette Mon Amour will be released in 2020. If you need to fill the nostalgia gap in the meantime, read Dazed’s celebration of colette in its twentieth (and final) year.
