Landing on the Milan Fashion Week schedule two seasons ago, the legendary Italian brand debuted its slick new vision of what sportswear could be, while still paying reverence to its vast and extensive archive. The move is not surprising, given Fila’s trackies and runners have firm roots in a number of subcultures, becoming the cult uniform for gabberheads across Europe in the early 90s. Now, the label has launched a new Asia-based diffusion line, named Fila Fusion, which taps into its classic aesthetics and brings them forward into 2019. On the line-up are reimagined iterations of essential Fila styles, including technical outerwear in the form of puffer jackets and windbreakers, logo-emblazoned sweaters and hoodies, and track pants. Fronting the collection’s accompanying campaign is Japanese model Kōki. The 16-year-old rose to Insta-fame early last year, before storming the runway at Chanel’s Cruise show in May, amassing legions of fans in the process. Inspired by the vibrancy of the streets of New York, the images and video see Kōki and a group of fellow models captured around the city wearing dynamic pieces from the Fila Fusion range.
