The fifth Yves Saint Laurent manifesto will be released on Saturday, September 12, 2009 where over half a million copies of the eco-consciously printed Manifesto will be distributed in the streets of Paris, New York, Milan, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and, for the first time, Seoul. Like past seasons of manifesto distribution, the first 2,000 passerby in each city will receive the Manifesto in a custom cotton tote bag designed by Creative Director Stefano Pilati.

Photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and featuring Christy Turlington in the Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2009-2010 collection, the total evolution of the upcoming Manifesto will be chronicled by the house in YSL's new forays into social networking (on Facebook and Twitter)  and on its own exclusive website. The Manifesto micro-site will feature archives of previous Manifestos, image and video teasers of the new edition, a Manifesto blog monitor and global countdowns to the September 12 distribution. On September 8 the final cut of a behind-the-scenes video will be unveiled and on the date of distribution the site will unveil and allow downloads of the complete Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Manifesto. This broad, inclusive revelation of Stefano Pilati’s Yves Saint Laurent at once engages in a dynamic, utterly contemporary discourse on fashion and forwards a rich legacy of taking it to the street.
