The London-based designer's new collaboration is here to remind us all how to wear double denim

Since the launch of his London-based contemporary womenswear label, self-portrait, Malaysian-born designer Han Chong has quickly used his sharp eye for intricate designs to become a favourite among your favs – including Beyoncé and K-Stew. For his latest venture, the Central Saint Martins graduate has traded his signature lace for denim with a brand new collaboration with Lee Jeans.

Although the collection uses the BODY OPTIX technique the American cult denim label created to ensure their jeans truly fit and contour individual figures, it is not just limited to jeans. Denim skirts, dresses, jackets, flared culottes, along with a long sleeved denim bustier-style crop top are all among the range of pieces courtesy of this collaboration. So you can essentially wear double denim the right way – think of it as the collection Britney Spears would wear as a modernised version of her iconic 2001 American Music Awards look.

With tops that feature drapes to create sculptural shapes that defy expectations of denim, the collection stays true to Chong’s ruffle-based style and makes room for a whole new way to wear the iconic fabric.

Who knows, maybe 2019 will be the year denim makes its return to award show red carpets?
