Creating glamour from gloves, Nina Peter’s creations combine practical warmth with style for cooler months. Inheriting a legacy of glove-making, Peter-Väth decided to take gloves into new territory- somewhere fun, exciting and eternally sparkling. Not only do Peter-Väth’s creations experiment with fabrics and textures- from leather to aquatic animal skins to sequins to metal studs- they also take on a variety of silhouettes, abandoning traditional finger and arm lengths in a combination of fresh shapes and styles. Dazed Digital: How did you get into designing gloves?Nina Peter-Väth: My family has a 150 year history in glove making and a trip to Japan, Tokyo inspired me to create some thing more fun and glamorous in this field.DD: Do you design any other products?Nina Peter-Väth: Bags, Belts or any other leather accessories that are related to our feeling of gloves and the use of the fine quality of glove leather.DD: How is designing gloves different from other design, and what practical factors do you have to keep in mind when designing?Nina Peter-Väth: It is a great and specific way of designing, basically you are up dressing or undressing 10 fingers with design and functionality! The symbolism of the fingers also gives you a fantastic possibility to express yourself, and it is incredible how much you are able to do, production wise and technically- so its good fun!DD: What materials do you use? Nina Peter-Väth: Softest Glace Nappa and Exotic Materials such as python, fish, ostrich, eel, and many more.DD: What inspires your designs? Nina Peter-Väth: Rock n ´Roll Glam and lot of influences that interest me at the time, like last seasons African body paint and tattooing.DD: Who is your ideal customer?
