Everyone say goodbye to Ivanka Trump’s fashion label

Make Fashion Great Again

After numerous reports throughout the year that Ivanka Trump’s fashion label was suffering from weak sales, she has now announced it will be closing.

Following his election as US President, Donald Trump said Ivanka was treated “unfairly” as her label was dropped by multiple retailers, but reports suggested sales were plummeting before the result.

According to a representative of the label, the decision to close “has nothing to do with the performance of the brand and is based solely on Ivanka’s decision to remain in Washington indefinitely”. Right. Ivanka said: “I am beyond grateful for the work of our incredible team who has inspired so many women; each other and myself included.”

Twitter (obviously) responded to the news, with one user saying that Ivanka is choosing to focus on fascism over fashion. Chelsea Handler tweeted: “Ivanka Trump is shutting down her fashion brand to spend more time not helping reunite families separated by her father.”

While the label will no longer be producing clothing, you could still be purchasing it unknowingly as the Business of Fashion discovered earlier this year. G-III – the company that owns the rights to the brand – was switching out its clothing labels to read ‘Adrienne Vittadini Studio’ (a clothing company that already exists) instead.
