Alexander Wang knows how to drop a collection unexpectedly. The designer’s first collab with adidas Originals was released from the back of a truck, while the second saw him inviting customers to place their orders via text before it was delivered by a courier dressed in the new items. Season 3 goes in a completely different direction as Wang and his crew of model friends embark on an road trip to Coachella to promote the collection, which was unveiled via Instagram.
The concept for the campaign came from the idea of embracing imperfection, a key element of the collection that is made out of factory rejects. Led by the designer and his ‘Wang Squad’ – composed of models Binx Walton, Lexi Boling, Issa Lish, Cat McNeil and Hanne Gaby Odiele – the mission took them on a pumped-up RV trip, as they drove across the desert from Los Angeles to the festival. Things get spiced up when they trade food and gas to get their hands on the new collection of clothes.
Made out of quality control and manufacturing errors, this third collection shows the New York designer in unexplored territories. Each piece carries a unique ‘flaw’ translated in pixelated graphics, uneven printing and perma-wrinkled fabrics. Season 3 is once again made up of track tops and sports essentials, this time with an industrial touch and raw quality. And the best part? The collection is available now, so don’t miss out.
