Palomo Spain channels surrealism for its new campaign

For SS18, the brand imagined what Hotel Palomo would be like

If you aren’t familiar with Palomo Spain, literally where have you been? Founded by Alejandro Gómez Palomo, the brand has become known for its flamboyant and fabulous fashions, and was worn by Beyoncé to show off her twins after their birth. Pretty good going for a label that has only been presenting its collections on the runway for three seasons...

Following closely behind its SS18 show, which took place at the luxurious Wellington Hotel in Madrid, the brand now opens the doors to part two of the Hotel Palomo as part of its new campaign. The photographs – debuting exclusively on Dazed today – see the new collection presented throughout the hotel’s rooms, in increasingly surreal settings. Think coffin-like chambers, topsy-turvy suites and hands coming from, well, everywhere. Adding to the slightly dreamlike vibe is the campaign’s painterly qualities, with the photographs resembling surrealist works rendered in oils and watercolours.

Shot by Filip Custic, the images also feature that old hotel staple: the white bathrobe (worn by one model with a towel fashioned into a swan-like headpiece) as well as plenty of sequins and feathers. Elsewhere, door handles appear on bags and keyholes on models’ chests.

Though Hotel Palomo sadly doesn’t actually exist (we're sorry to break it to you), with the brand’s new campaign, you can check-in for a dose of surrealism whenever you want.
