After working at Chloé from 1997-2006, Philo joined the Parisian house in 2008. Over the years, the British designer’s minimal approach was widely celebrated within the industry. Beyond the industry, Philo’s aesthetic has had a longlasting effect on the high street constantly trickling down into its stores. “Working with Céline has been an exceptional experience for me these last 10 years,” the designer said in a statement released on WWD. “I am grateful to have worked with an incredibly talented and committed team and I would like to thank everyone along the way who has been part of the collaborations and conversations… it’s been amazing.” While there have been countless rumours over the years as to where Philo will go next – including Azzedine Alaïa and more recently Burberry – the article reports that she will not be working at any other labels in the near future. Philo’s own replacement will be announced in the next few months with the design team taking over during the interim. Escape the algorithm!
