Gigi Hadid has spoken out following an incident while at Milan Fashion Week, where a man picked her up unexpectedly from behind. Clearly taken by surprise, the model lashed out to defend herself, elbowing him in the face.

21-year-old Hadid had been leaving the Max Mara show with her sister Bella when the incident occurred. She took to social media after media outlets, such as the Sun newspaper, reported the incident as 'Not Model Behaviour'.

The Sun's headline read: “NOT MODEL BEHAVIOUR: Gigi Hadid aggressively lashes out and ELBOWS fan in the FACE after he tries to pick her up.” It has since been amended.

The man is now known to be serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk.

Hadid responded after a Huffington Post journalist on Twitter rewrote the headline as “GOOD FOR HER: Gigi Hadid Reacts In Totally Appropriate Way When Random Man Tries To Lift Her In The Street”.

"I'm a HUMAN BEING — and had EVERY RIGHT to defend myself. How dare that idiot thinks he has the right to man-handle a complete stranger. He ran quick tho," she wrote on Twitter. Totally fair enough.
