Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, has just been announced as the latest face of Miu Miu. The 14-year-old stars in a dreamy film for the house’s eyewear line entitled Scenique and directed by Francesco Maria Tiribelli. It’s not Kaia’s first modelling gig, though: she’s recently appeared in a Chrome Hearts campaign with her mother, posed for an editorial alongside brother Presley Gerber, and was shot by Mario Testino for Vogue Paris, gracing its April 2016 cover.
Gerber's face – which bears a striking resemblance to her mother's – isn't revealed until she emerges from a pool wearing a pair of frames, but the film shows that the model fits perfectly into the dream-like, quirky Miu Miu world. She joins a roster of emerging actresses who have modelled for the brand including Mia Goth, who starred in the label’s Steven Meisel-shot SS15 campaign, Lea Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos, who did so in the label’s Resort 2014 campaign, as well as Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld.
Scenique comes at a time when many celebrity children are forging careers for themselves as models. Lily Rose Depp is a favourite of Chanel, for example, and Lourdes Leon (Madonna’s daughter) landed a Stella McCartney campaign which was unveiled earlier this year – and that’s without mentioning Willow and Jaden Smith.
