Meeting the faces of Olivier Rousteing’s NikeLab collection

We talk fantasy football, style and shoots with five of the models starring in Nick Knight’s dramatic imagery

Last week, we exclusively revealed that Nike and Olivier Rousteing were teaming up on a capsule collection, launching today at nike.com/nikelab and select NikeLab stores. It was none other than legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight who turned his talents to an editorial shoot set to appear in the upcoming issue of Dazed.

“Nick Knight was definitely the first name I mentioned to Nike,” said Rousteing of his choice. “Nike is all about movement, and for me, it is all about glamour. I think Nick definitely gets the right balance of movement and glamour at the same time – it’s sexy, but it’s also cool.”

Entitled ‘Disrupt Fashion X Disrupt Football’, the shoot sees Rousteing and his creative muse Cristiano Ronaldo star alongside a host of fashion’s brightest new faces. To celebrate the collaboration, we got in touch with five of the models to talk fantasy football and whether they’d stand a chance against Ronaldo (or Rousteing) on the pitch.

BHUMIKA ARORA

Who would be on your fantasy football team?

Bhumika Arora: Unfortunately I don't watch much football, so I don’t have the most knowledge on the topic, but if I had to choose people for my own team, I would want people who are versatile. It’s a plus if they can run fast as well!

How was it working with Nick Knight?

Bhumika Arora: It was such an honour to work with Nick Knight. He made the shoot super fun – lots of jumping around, kicking the football, etc. I can honestly say it has been one of the most fun shoots I have ever been on.

Are you a great football player?

Bhumika Arora: I think that I am terrible at football, but I enjoyed the shoot so much I might try to improve a bit!

DUDLEY O’SHAUGHNESSY

Who would be on your fantasy football team?

Dudley O’Shaughnessy: I don’t need one, West Ham already have one. Come on you Irons!

Are you a great footballer?

Dudley O’Shaughnessy: No, I have two left feet.

How would you describe your own style?

Dudley O’Shaughnessy: The COS store meets The Matrix film.

MARIA BORGES

Who would be on your fantasy football team?

Maria Borges: I do love football, but lately I have been so busy with my career that I’m ashamed to say I don’t know many names of players like I used to. But here are some names for now – Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Drogba, Yaya Touré and Ibrahimovic.

How was it working with Nick Knight?

Maria Borges: It was a dream come true for me because he's a such fashion icon when he comes to photography. He's lovely.

Are you a great footballer?

Maria Borges: Yes! I played soccer a lot growing up in Angola, I used to play goalkeeper.

GERON MCKINLEY

Which look was your favourite?

Geron McKinley: I would have to say my favourite was this look that had a really cool couture jacket with black and gold joggers and some Nikes to match. The pieces were incredibly detailed and definitely stood out to me – Olivier and Nike put together a dope collection.

How was it working with Nick Knight?

Geron McKinley: Working with Nick Knight was a cool experience, he definitely is a visionary. He explained parts of what he envisioned and I did what I know to help bring it to life.

How would you describe your own style?

Geron McKinley: I would have to describe it as comfortable. I honestly enjoy wearing what I feel comfortable in on any given day; whether that means I’m wearing three layers of baggy old clothes one day, a Pyer Moss biker jacket, or just a fly CNCRT sweatsuit on a lazy day. I try not to follow trends but I do appreciate brands that speak to me or have a message then I incorporate them how I want.

SELENA FORREST

Which look was your favourite?

Selena Forrest: My favourite look was the shorts and the tights with the gloves. Wearing that just made me feel like I could play football!

How was it working with Nick Knight?

Selena Forrest: Working with Nick Knight was amazing. He was super nice and easy to work with because he already had a vision in want he wanted, so it was really easy to deliver and get the shot.

Are you a great footballer?

Selena Forrest: Am I a great football player? No!
