Since being appointed in 2015, Michele has been widely applauded for his design work at Gucci. Aside from crafting a new, romantic, bohemian and gender fluid aesthetic at the house, he has also been credited for his clever casting choices. From trans actress and model Hari Nef walking the AW16 menswear show to photographer Petra Collins in the womenswear equivalent, the designer is an established eye when it comes to enlisting some of today’s most interesting characters. Welch was also announced as an ambassador for the label’s jewelry and watches earlier this year. Speaking to Vogue following the news of her jewelry ambassadorship, the singer said of her affinity for Michele’s work and the brand, “A lot of it comes from quite similar places, fascinated by the renaissance and Greek mythology coming in there. And it’s also like psychedelic granny influences, which is what I’ve been dressing for a long time.” But her admiration for Michele’s work isn’t where the musician’s partnership with the label begins or ends. Gucci also designed the costumes for Welch’s 2012 ‘Ceremonials’ tour, meaning this isn’t the first time the singer will have sported the house’s wears on stage.
