Google reveals the most searched for questions and designers of 2015
Google have released its annual “Year in Search” list, revealing the most popular searches of 2015 – from car models to celebrity pregnancies. The list also reveals the most popular fashion questions, some of which are quite bizarre. While “How to walk in heels?” and “What to wear on the first day of school?” are quite understandable things to type into your Google search bar, “What to wear to a wedding in the woods?” is, perhaps, less so. Is getting married in the woods a thing now? “How to dress up like Miranda Sings?” is also a funny one. While the internet character portrayed by American comedian Colleen Ballinger Evans is popular on YouTube (she boasts over 5,600,000 subscribers), it’s surprising how popular she is as a choice of fancy dress.
The most Googled fashion designers of the year also contains some surprises. While Raf Simons’ presence on the list is to be expected following his departure from Christian Dior, Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss is again, less so. This is probably due to Gawker’s article “Remember When 39-Year-Old Jerry Seinfeld Dated a 17-Year-Old?”, which was published and subsequently went viral in June (the designer was said 17-year-old). A large proportion of the remaining designers are couturiers – Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Lacroix – showing that while their clientele may be small, the interest in their work is big.
